Whiston Hospital Elderly Patients Christmas Appeal

In 2022 each PSCF committee member was awarded a Special Christmas Donation to donate to a charity of their choice this Christmas.

Our Treasurer, Phil wanted to do something special for Whiston Hospital as they looked after Phil’s Dad, Adie for 6 months hospitalisation prior to his death in 2015 as well as taking care of Phil when he was hospitalised with covid pneumonia in 2021.

Adie spent 5 months in Whiston late 2014-early 2015 and was actually a patient over the festive period. He was visited by Herbert the hairdresser on Christmas day, who gave him a box of chocolates, had a little chat with him and wished him a Merry Christmas. He spoke about this for weeks afterwards and told every family member who came to visit him. Having seen how much this lifted his spirits, Phil wanted to use this opportunity to do something similar for elderly patients this Christmas.

He donated his special donation of £2,000 to the elderly patients christmas appeal. This appeal helped the hospital purchase Christmas presents which were tailored to the individuals needs and likes.

Phil (Treasurer), Emily (Vice Secretary) and Chair (Ken) alongside his Wife, Jen all had the pleasure of presenting the team at Whiston Hospital with this cheque.
